If the episode count is putting you off, you can skip the original show’s wholly anime-original episodes. The route below keeps episodes that mix manga material with additional scenes, so you do not lose useful story just to make the shortest possible checklist.

The main story route
Series or part Episode numbering What to do
Bleach, the original series 1–366 Watch in order; use the optional-episode list below if you want the main story.
TYBW Part 1 TYBW 1–13 Start here after original episode 366.
TYBW Part 2: The Separation TYBW 14–26 Continue straight from Part 1.
TYBW Part 3: The Conflict TYBW 27–40 Continue straight from Part 2.
TYBW Part 4: The Calamity TYBW 41 onward The final part; its release is still in progress as of September 24, 2026.

Can you start with TYBW? It is a sequel, so begin with the original series if you are new to Bleach. If you stopped at episode 366 years ago, resume at TYBW episode 1; you do not need any of the movies first.

Streaming services may call these seasons, parts or cours. Follow the part titles and episode numbers rather than assuming “Season 1” always means Ichigo’s very first adventure. TYBW has its own numbering: its episode 1 follows original episode 366.

September 24, 2026: TYBW is still releasing. The official Japanese schedule lists streaming dates of October 20 and 27 for episodes 49 and 50. Those episodes are upcoming; regional release times may differ.

Bleach filler list: which episodes can you skip?

Watch episodes 1–366 in order, skipping the following ranges if you want to stay with the manga-based storyline:

Optional episodes in the original Bleach series
Skip Resume at What you can skip
33; 50 34; 51 Standalone detours during the opening stretch.
64–108 109 The long Bount detour. Keep 109 because it also contains manga material.
128–137 138 Optional stories during the Arrancar-era run.
147–149 150 The Forest of Menos side story.
168–189 190 The Shusuke Amagai storyline interrupts the ongoing conflict.
204–205; 213–214 206; 215 Short detours. Keep the intervening flashback episodes.
228–266 267 Includes standalone stories, the Zanpakuto rebellion and its follow-up.
287; 298–299; 303–305 288; 300; 306 Episode 299 is useful only if you want the Hell Verse movie tie-in.
311–341 342 Includes the Reigai/Invasion Army stretch. Keep 342.
355 356 A standalone interruption in the final original-series arc.

These ranges follow the pure-filler classifications in Anime Filler List’s episode index, a community-maintained reference. “Mixed” episodes stay in this route. With those exclusions, the original run is 203 episodes instead of 366, before you add TYBW.

Bleach watch order without filler: episodes to keep

Prefer a watch list to a skip list? Follow these original-series ranges from left to right, then start TYBW:

1–32 → 34–49 → 51–63 → 109–127 → 138–146 → 150–167 → 190–203 → 206–212 → 215–227 → 267–286 → 288–297 → 300–302 → 306–310 → 342–354 → 356–366.

This keeps 203 episodes, including every mixed manga/anime-original episode. It is the same route as the skip table, written as a checklist you can follow while watching.

A small amount of carryover from skipped anime-original stories can still appear. If an unfamiliar side character briefly shows up after the Bount arc, it does not mean you missed a major manga plotline. Continue with the route rather than going back through dozens of episodes solely to identify a cameo.

The list is a way to control pacing, not a verdict that every optional episode is bad. If you enjoy the cast enough to want more time with them, keep the detours or return later. The Zanpakuto storyline is a particularly clear choice for viewers interested in the sword spirits, but it still interrupts the main serial narrative.

Does this filler list apply to TYBW?

No. The skip ranges above apply only to the original 366-episode series. Watch TYBW’s numbered episodes in order, starting again at episode 1. Do not carry a number from the original-series skip list into TYBW; the two shows use separate episode counts.

Do not skip the Fullbring or Lost Agent arc

The change of pace after the Arrancar conflict makes some viewers assume the final original-series stretch is filler. It is not. Keep episodes 343–366, apart from the optional episode 355 listed above, and watch 342 as part of the transition.

This material is often labeled The Lost Agent or the Fullbring arc. Jumping directly from the earlier climax into TYBW would leave out part of Ichigo’s journey. Likewise, a flashback can be essential: a different time period alone is not a reason to skip an episode.

Bleach movies in order: where do they fit?

For an uncomplicated first watch, finish original episode 366, then watch any movies you want before starting TYBW. This avoids stopping in the middle of a serial arc and lets you recognize the established cast and abilities. It is a viewing recommendation, not a claim that all four films happen at that exact point in the timeline.

Prefer a movie break during the TV series? The stops below give the show time to introduce the relevant cast and abilities before you see them in a film.

Optional movie breaks during the original series
Movie Watch after What to expect
Memories of Nobody (2006) Original episode 127 A standalone adventure after the opening Arrancar stretch; watch before the other films.
The DiamondDust Rebellion (2007) Original episode 167 A Hitsugaya-focused detour. Continue TV at 190 if skipping filler.
Fade to Black (2008) Original episode 203 A separate Rukia-centered adventure. This places the break after the next major Hueco Mundo stretch.
Hell Verse (2010) Original episode 310 Wait for the major late-Arrancar developments. If wanted, play the optional episode 299 tie-in immediately before the film.

Different guides place these films differently because theatrical release dates and spoiler-conscious viewing breaks are not the same thing. For example, GamesRadar’s release list places Hell Verse after episode 299, when it originally came out. Waiting until 310 is the more cautious choice for a new viewer. If switching between formats feels like a chore, keep all four until after 366.

None is required to understand the handoff from episode 366 to TYBW. Debates about individual settings or ideas appearing elsewhere in the franchise do not make the movies compulsory homework. If you only want the main TV story, go directly to TYBW.

The live-action Bleach film is another adaptation, not the next installment of the animated series. The early animated specials are extras too; you do not need to place them before episode 1.

Where to watch Bleach legally

In the United States, watch the original Bleach series on Hulu, starting at episode 1. VIZ confirms Hulu for The Calamity in the US and Disney+ internationally; check your local catalog for access. Availability is regional, so do not assume every Disney+ catalog has the same seasons or language tracks.

Watch Thousand-Year Blood War on Hulu, or use VIZ’s Bleach hub to choose another installment. For the optional films, VIZ’s four-film collection lists the official disc edition. Movie rental and purchase availability can differ from the television subscription catalog.

VIZ also ran limited-time free episode promotions on YouTube during 2026. Those viewing windows are not a permanent free home for the whole series. Check the current licensed listing before relying on an old promotional link.

How long does the main-story route take?

At roughly 24 minutes each, the 203 retained original episodes take about 81 hours, before TYBW. Watching all 366 takes roughly 146 hours. These are planning estimates; opening songs, closing credits and individual runtimes change your actual viewing time.

Try the opening stretch before committing to a marathon. If you enjoy Ichigo’s relationships and the Soul Society storyline, you will have a better basis for deciding whether to keep optional arcs. If you want a shorter supernatural-action series next, our Jujutsu Kaisen watch order gives you a compact route with the films separated from recaps.
