About this policy

This policy explains how TalePick handles information when you browse the website, search for articles, leave a reaction or contact the team. For privacy questions or requests, email admin@talepick.com.

Browsing and search

You can read TalePick without an account. When you visit, the server receives information needed to deliver the page, such as your IP address, browser details, the requested address and the time of the request. This information may be recorded in logs used to maintain the website, investigate errors and protect against misuse.

Search terms form part of the results-page address and may appear in your browser history and server logs.

Information you send us

When you email TalePick, we receive your email address, the name you provide, your message and any attachments. We use these details to respond, assess suggestions or reports, resolve requests and maintain relevant correspondence. Messages are not used to build advertising audiences.

Please include only information relevant to your enquiry. Email delivery is also subject to the privacy practices of the email services involved.

Cookies and article reactions

When you choose a reaction, TalePick uses a functional cookie to remember your selection for up to one year. You can change your reaction or tap it again to remove it. Reaction totals are visible to other readers.

Reaction records contain your selection, its update time and a random identifier associated with the article. They do not contain your name, email address or IP address. Clearing the cookie prevents the site from recognising your previous selection.

TalePick does not use advertising or analytics cookies of its own. Signing in to an authorised site account uses cookies needed for login and account preferences. You can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings; blocking them may affect these features.

Videos and external services

Some articles include YouTube videos. The embedded player connects to YouTube when the page opens, using its privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may receive your IP address, browser information and details of your interaction with the player. Google’s Privacy Policy explains how that information is handled.

Social sharing buttons open the service you select; they do not publish a post without your action. External websites and services have their own privacy practices.

Access and retention

Information may be handled by service providers involved in website hosting or email delivery. Access is limited to what is needed to operate the service, resolve an enquiry or meet an applicable obligation.

Correspondence and technical records are retained for the purpose for which they were collected, including resolving requests, maintaining security and meeting legal obligations where relevant. Retention varies with the type of information and the reason it is needed; records may also remain in backups.

Your choices and requests

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct or request deletion of personal information. Contact admin@talepick.com with enough detail to identify the information and your request. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information before acting on it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of the page shows the latest revision. Questions about a change can be sent to the contact address above.
