Netflix’s Anime NYC 2026 announcements included release dates for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and Fool Night, plus updates on its One Piece projects and returning series. This recap focuses on Netflix’s panel, with a release calendar you can use to decide what to follow next.
Anime NYC took place from August 20 to 23. The announcements below come from that event; the dates were checked again on October 3, 2026. A newly released trailer is not necessarily a newly announced adaptation.

These dates come from Netflix’s August 21 announcement. A month-only window does not confirm a particular day. LEGO One Piece’s announced date has already passed; check the Netflix listing in your region for playback.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2: follow the new story
The important distinction is the new cast and story, not simply another season number. CD Projekt Red’s official Edgerunners site identifies the new production from CD Projekt Red and TRIGGER, set again in Night City.
If the first series is what brought you here, approach the sequel as another perspective on that setting rather than a promise to resume David’s story exactly where it stopped. The official teaser is a better guide to its intended atmosphere than fan-made trailers or edits using footage from the first series.
Fool Night: a date for the dystopian adaptation
Fool Night’s official site confirms November 26 and an all-at-once Netflix release. SUNRISE and SHAFT are collaborating on the adaptation of Kasumi Yasuda’s manga.
The premise gives you a clearer reason to follow it than the studio names alone. In a world starved of sunlight and oxygen, people are transformed into plants. Toshiro Kamiya’s poverty makes that technology a personal choice rather than a distant scientific idea.
Follow this one if you prefer dystopian stories built around difficult personal choices. Its premise centers on poverty and survival, rather than a conventional action tournament or heroic quest.
The adaptation was already part of Netflix’s Annecy slate in June. Anime NYC supplied further details; it was not the first announcement that Fool Night would become an anime.
The One Piece and LEGO One Piece are different projects
Do not put the two One Piece entries into a single season order. The One Piece is WIT STUDIO’s new adaptation beginning with East Blue. LEGO One Piece uses the LEGO format to revisit the live-action adventure through Usopp’s storytelling.
If you want to see how a new production handles the beginning of Luffy’s journey, follow The One Piece. If you want the LEGO special, search for its full title. Neither name means the next numbered season of the long-running TV anime.
Sakamoto Days, Blue Eye Samurai and Bass X Machina
- Sakamoto Days Season 2: the new character preview introduces people from the JCC assassin school storyline. Netflix lists January 2027 for the start of streaming, with the first episode scheduled to premiere simultaneously worldwide. It does not say the full season drops at once.
- Blue Eye Samurai: Season 2 has a January 2027 window. Netflix also announced Season 3 and identified it as the final season, a separate update from the Season 2 trailer.
- Bass X Machina: Bryan Tyree Henry leads and executive produces this science-fiction Western, inspired by the historical lawman Bass Reeves. Its November 3 date belongs to a new series, not a sequel.
The panel included animation beyond Japanese anime. If you are following only a particular series, use its individual title and release window rather than treating the lineup as one connected franchise.
Where to watch the announced titles
Netflix is the service named for these releases. Search the full title in your regional Netflix catalog and use a reminder if the listing offers one. A trailer on YouTube is promotional material, not a free full-episode release.
The table records the announced dates, not a guarantee of playback in your account today. For the January and February entries, check for a day-specific update before planning around a premiere.
